GODDESS FOUNDATION: LGFB

WHAT IS LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER?

Look Good Feel Better is a free national Australian community service program dedicated to teaching cancer patients how to manage the appearance-related side-effects caused by cancer treatment.

The program relies heavily upon a team of 1,500 trained and certified cosmetic, beauty and hairdressing professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to help deliver workshops across Australia and as they receive no government funding, it is the generosity of the community that allows them to continue to provide this free service.

Earlier in the year, as part of the Eye Of Horus Cosmetics Goddess Foundation .. we supplied product for LGFB to use in their makeup master classes and for the cancer patients to take home in their Confidence Kits. They love our Nubian Brown Goddess Pencil as an alternative to black!

To continue our support for LGFB we arranged to donate $10 per every Goddess Box sold from our online store of the month of August.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A WORKSHOP?

Their workshops include sessions on skincare techniques to alleviate symptoms including dryness and sallowness; makeup tips to help patients deal with concealing redness and drawing on eyebrows; and advice on headwear including scarf styling and wig selection.

Each participant receives a Confidence Kit, full of skincare and make-up products donated by the cosmetic industry to use as tools for application throughout the workshop and to continue in their own homes.

Participants also benefit from the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation. Through our workshops friendships and additional support networks are formed that can help during their diagnosis and treatment.

HELENS STORY

For 44-year-old cancer patient Helen Tran, the Look Good Feel Better workshop offered a sense of calm amidst a shock diagnosis of breast cancer.

"The best thing about the Look Good Feel Better workshop was that it reignited my need for self-care, self-love and self-respect. I was starting to feel comfortable in my own skin at the age of 40 something, but lost a large part of that during the initial stages of treatment. I came out of the program more positive about little things I could do to make myself feel better. I continue to wear blush every time I walk out of the house, and sometimes even a little eyeliner. The small pieces of me that I lost during treatment are starting to find their way back.” ~ Helen Tran
