ABOUT BROOKE
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m the founding Editor-in-Chief of A Conscious Collection magazine. I’m design and wellness obsessed and can’t get through my day without a (3) coffee(s). I grew up in Albury-Wodonga, moving to Melbourne for University where I have now resided for the last 11 years.
Describe yourself in three words
Driven, compassionate, loyal
What does beauty mean to you
Beauty to me is the confidence in knowing you ARE enough.
I know it’s the age-old saying but beauty really does come within in. A kind heart is the most beautiful thing.
Your favourite self-care ritual
I love having a slow morning at home. Coffee in bed, no places to be and just take the time to enjoy the morning.
One makeup product you can’t live without
It’s not makeup as such but rather skincare. I love hyaluronic acid for a plump and hydrated base.
Treasured words of wisdom
I love the quote “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”
It really depicts the tenacity that is needed to follow your heart and dreams.
When you believe in something so wholeheartedly the fight and drive out ways any fear or obstacles thrown your way.

A CONSCIOUS COLLECTION
Where your journey began
A Conscious Collection came about in the most organic way. In late 2014 I was going through some major health and lifestyle changes as a result of a few food intolerances and lifestyle choices. After months of feeling fatigued, foggy and bloated, I turned to a naturopath for help. He opened my eyes to the wonderful world I’m exposed to now – whole foods and holistic healing – that I had never even considered before. From there I used my new-found knowledge to change my eating habits. I began to experiment with more whole, natural foods and fell in love with the lifestyle that made me feel amazing. And so began the journey of A Conscious Collection; initially launching as a blog to document my learnings and share my recipes with the online community.
In starting A Conscious Collection, I enrolled in a nutrition course and started sharing everything I could with anyone I could. At this time it was a hobby, a place for me to share my recipes and learnings. It wasn’t until I realised it was gaining really great traction that I thought I could turn it into a full time job, and a magazine as it stands today. Who would have ever thought?!
Your source of inspiration
My greatest source of inspiration would come from travel, the scenery, the food, the conversations and design across many facets.
I’m also incredibly inspired by the network I am surrounded in, I have a great bunch of successful friends that are also entrepreneurs. They honestly inspire me on a daily basis, their success is truly inspirational and their dedication and drive is infectious.
What does success mean to you
Being happy, healthy and content in all aspects of my life.
Career highlight
Shooting on locations around Los Angeles, with an incredibly talented crew. Pulling these major photoshoots off internationally are never easy and are always a pinch-me moment.
How you juggle business and personal
To be honest I really struggled with this concept at the initial stages of launching the magazine. I got so caught up in the day-to-day running of the business I forgot to prioritise other aspects of my life.
Balance is a hard one for me, though, as I love what I do, so in my downtime, I love working. We call this a work/life blend; when you blend work and pleasure together it’s a very rewarding lifestyle.
The best piece of advice you could give to someone looking to start or up-level their own business:
To never compare yourself to others. Your journey is yours and no two journeys will be the same. As soon as you start comparing yourself to someone or another brand you waste energy that could be spent building your empire.
What are you looking forward to
COVID being over so I can see my friends and family! Oh, and put out another issue for you all!
