Byron Bay Travel Guide

With Eye of Horus Cosmetics HQ being located in the beautiful holiday town of Byron Bay, we’re surrounded by some of the best beaches, creatives and iconic brands that Australia has to offer.
The holiday season is upon us, and perhaps you or someone you know may be coming our way? So, we have curated a little guide on some of our favorite spots to relax, eat and enjoy!

At the many beautiful beaches… Our favorite is Belongil Beach for its mellow vibe and calm clear water. It’s also dog friendly and has free all-day parking. Belongil Beach lies to the north of the main Byron town, easily accessible by car or a short 10-minute walk along the beach.

At a world-class day spa… Gaia Retreat is a multi-award-winning spa nestled on 25 acres in the breathtaking hinterland of Byron Bay. It’s one of our favorite places to go and unwind, have a massage and relax in the spa or by the pool surrounded by lush forest. You can even enjoy a five-star meal there on the beautiful deck area.

With a drink in hand… Picture this, your on holiday… you wake up, enjoy a blissful swim at the beach, find a yummy lunch spot, and what’s next? It’s time for that afternoon drink. The Stone and Wood Brewery is a great place to take a tour and enjoy a tasting board of their locally brewed beers. Or perhaps you fancy a margarita at The Balcony where you can sit back and take in the view over the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay town.

But first… coffee! It’s official - we have nominated Allpress Espresso in the industrial estate the best coffee in Byron Bay. Go try it, you’ll thank us.

In the day… The Farm is a classic Byron Bay spot for lunch, with their philosophy being built on their motto ‘Grow, Feed, Educate’, you get to enjoy fresh locally grown food on your plate from… well, The Farm! They encourage you to explore the property and its various food and flower plots, meet the animals, talk to their farmers and get inspired by watching a working farm in progress.

At night... A short ride from Byron Bay, Harvest Newrybar restaurant is located in the historic village of Newrybar and showcases the diversity of this wonderful local region. They have a focus on native and wild Australian ingredients, using a combination of seasonal food sourced from artisan producers and their own edible gardens.

Cape Byron Lighthouse… This 3.7km loop walk leads you on a hike through the rainforest and across clifftops with stunning views of the hinterland, ocean and most likely a pod of dolphins! En route, you’ll wander through the shade of Bangalow palms and ancient Burrawangs, across kangaroo grasslands, along picturesque beaches and up to Cape Byron Lighthouse.

Killen Falls… Killen Falls is one of several waterfalls in the region and a must-see on your visit to the area. Stroll along the boardwalk, offering a viewing platform located on the top of a cliff overlooking the falls, or walk to the bottom of the falls and swim in the refreshing natural water for a whole body cleanse.

Brunswick River… Brunswick River is located in the small, quiet (compared to Byron!) and quaint town of Brunswick Heads. On a sunny day, this river lights up with a sky blue hue reflecting onto the crystal clear water. It’s the perfect spot for a cruisey day dipping in between the river and the small beach there, and then on to lunch at the pub looking out over the river.
