From Concept to Compact The Making of Our Pressed Powder

As one of our most anticipated launches, the Pressed Powder represents a true evolution in clean beauty. But beyond the formula lies the story of conscious craftsmanship: a refillable compact that not only performs but also reflects our deep commitment to intentional design. 
In this behind-the-scenes Q&A, we sit down with our founder, Holly Schleich, to talk about the process, purpose, and philosophy behind the product.

What inspired the creation of the Pressed Powder?

"The Pressed Powder has been one of our most requested launches. Every detail - from formula to refillable design - was carefully developed to reflect our clean beauty values and commitment to conscious craftsmanship." -  Holly Schleich, Founder.

This has been one of your most requested launches. How did the community feedback shape this?

Community feedback was everything. We heard from so many people, especially those with sensitive skin (like mine) who were looking for a powder that wouldn’t feel dry, cakey or settle into fine lines.
Our audience wanted something that worked seamlessly across skin types and could serve multiple purposes: a setting powder that could be used for touch-ups and a natural complexion enhancer. We listened closely to these needs and made sure the final product would meet their requirements.

Can you tell us about the journey of developing the formula - what did it take to get it just right?

It was a long and considered journey. We tested and refined multiple versions before finding the perfect balance. We wanted a formula that felt weightless on the skin but delivered visible results: soft focus coverage, shine control and long lasting comfort. Incorporating nourishing, natural ingredients like Kaolin Clay, Olive Leaf and Peppermint Leaf Extract allowed us to create a powder that not only performed beautifully, but also supported the skin barrier.
Every trial brought us closer to what you see today: a clean, high performing powder that feels as good as it looks and still gives a beautiful glow.

Why was it important for the compact to be refillable, and how does this align with your clean beauty values?

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Creating a refillable compact was a non-negotiable. We wanted to offer a luxurious product that not only looked beautiful, but also supported circular beauty practices. The compact is designed to be kept for life, with refillable pans that reduce waste and promote mindful consumption. It’s about beauty with purpose  - clean, considered and crafted to last.

What challenges or breakthroughs stood out during the product’s development?

Shade matching across undertones was definitely one of the most challenging aspects. We wanted to create a range that was inclusive and optically blended to adapt to different skin tones. Achieving the soft-focus texture without using talc or synthetic fillers was another major milestone. But perhaps the biggest breakthrough was seeing the formula come to life in a refillable format that still felt elevated and aligned with our brand vision. That moment made all the challenges worthwhile.

How do you hope the Pressed Powder will elevate someone’s daily beauty ritual?

I hope it becomes a product people reach for every single day. Whether it’s for a quick dusting to reduce shine, or the final step in their makeup ritual. It’s versatile, calming on the skin, and designed to feel like a little moment of care. For me, it’s about creating space for beauty that feels good - clean, conscious and confidence-boosting, without ever overwhelming the skin.
